Dota 2 hero grid guides

A hero grid is the layout of the hero picker that you set yourself: mains, a pool for every position, counters, bans. The game keeps all of them in one file, hero_grid_config.json. New here? Start with how to make a custom hero grid — it goes from an empty field to a grid in the game.

Gridomant is a free hero grid builder that runs in your browser, no sign-up. It draws a picture with dots right inside the grid and shows the field exactly as the game will, lays all 127 heroes out by position from OpenDota stats and builds the file Dota reads by itself. Your old grids are kept: the site appends the new grid to your file instead of replacing it.

For heroes in arcanas and personas there is “Main in a skin” with ready drawings of 30 skins. Everything is computed on your computer — pictures and files are never uploaded.
