Techies — hero grid for mains

The in-game name is Techies — the same in the English and the Russian client. There is no common English short name for Techies in the site's dictionary. Russian-speaking players say “Течис” (or “минёр”, “минер” and “техис”).

Valve sums the hero up in one line: “Surprises enemies with invisible landmines and explosive attacks”.

The site's “Choose a hero” window finds Techies by either “Techies” or “Течис”.

In the ready layouts that means the “UNIVERSAL” (17th of 22) block of By attributes and the “MEDIUM” (47th of 59) band of By complexity.

Techies is played in two positions — soft support (4) and hard support (5) — like 38 other heroes with two scores of 0.5 or more; the main one is soft support. All five scores (best = 1): carry 0.16 · mid 0.13 · offlane 0.42 · soft support 1 · hard support 0.62 — which is why the editor's Auto-pick places Techies in the “4 · SUPPORT” and “5 · HARD SUPPORT” rows and nowhere else.

Where the scores come from: in 1,608 parsed OpenDota matches (data as of 23 Sept 2026) Techies went safe lane 30% of the time, mid 9% and offlane 61%. Median gold per minute is 423 — between support (360) and core (540), a supportness of 0.61 by the site's formula; experience per minute is 582.

Techies has 542,635 games in the OpenDota snapshot of 23 Sept 2026, Herald to Divine — 23rd of 127 by games played — and a 51.0% win rate, 39th of 127.

Rank barely changes the picture: 51.2% at Herald–Crusader and 50.5% at Ancient–Divine. Players pick Techies more than usual at Guardian (+10%) and less at Divine (−8%).

Techies in the snapshot's pro matches: 34 picks, 16 wins, 15 bans. Turbo: 300,363 games at 47.6%, worse than in ranked brackets.
